Perth
Perth City Centre is located alongside the peaceful waters of the Swan River, twenty Kilometres inland of the Indian Ocean on the West Coast of Australia.
Captain James Stirling founded the city of Perth as part of the Swan River Colony in 1829.The British Government agreed to found the colony as the first free settlement in Australia and the first settlers arrived in Western Australia in June 1829. On August 12 of that year, the felling of a tree marked the official foundation of the City of Perth.
Today the City of Perth continues its evolution into one of Australia’s most distinctive and welcoming cities with a friendly, multicultural population.
Perth is home to many great architectural landmarks of interest to both locals and visitors alike. One such landmark is The Perth Mint, housed in an elegant, late 19th century, heritage building. This is a popular tourist attraction being Australia’s oldest operating mint with a number of attractions such as the Gold Pour held in the original Melthouse.
